Hardness is tested using the pencil hardness method (45-degree angle, ASTM D3363 equivalent protocol): a grade of 9H indicates that no permanent mark is left by the 9H pencil grade. The 10H grade extends this to the practical maximum of the pencil scale. Any claim of 12H hardness for a ceramic coating is not achievable by known chemistry — this is stated here to help procurement teams evaluate competitor claims accurately. LETS DISCUSS 9H and 10H PENCIL HARDNESS

To measure the hardness of the pencil, the test is performed by pressing each grade of pencil with a different hardness (as calculated by the pencil scale) at a 45-deg angle to the surface of the ceramic-coated surface . If a permanent mark is left, the surface shall be determined to have a "hardness" of that grade of pencil. If the highest score or grade on the pencil scale 10H? So, how is a 12H ceramic coating possible on planet earth?
Well, we're the only planet in the solar system that can have a 12H hardness coating(to mislead people for marketing gimmick). Whenever you see that a ceramic coating is marketed as a 12H degree of hardness, it's 100 % pure grade nonsense, and it's virtually impossible chemistry.
